Rita Miller is an 18 year public school teacher and a current student earning her PhD in Education. After running in the last School Board election, Miller spent the last six years educating herself on educational issues and research as a PhD student in the School of Educational Studies Urban Leadership program at Claremont Graduate University.
Ms. Miller has her California Single Subject Teaching credential and her Administrative credential. Her current title is Targeted Student Population Program Adviser with LAUSD. Miller's focus is creating and implementing programs and supports for targeted populations as well as anyone who is need of that extra bit of support.
Miller attended Santa Clara University School of Law and practiced law for 12 years. Miller paused her law career to focus on her children. During this time, she volunteered in her daughter's classrooms. Her love of teaching and inspiring children led to a new career and her journey as a public school teacher began.
Rita Miller moved to her home in Altadena in April of 2012. Her three daughters have all lived in their Altadena home. Two daughters graduated from college and live on their own. Her youngest is in her third year of college and spends her summers and breaks in Altadena with her Mom and their two dogs.
If we join together and make our voices heard, we can fight for the change we want to see!
